Modul Installation Windows 10 on VMware

a. Learning objectives

The Learning The learning objectives carried out in this lab include the following:

  1. Knowing what Windows 10 is?

  2. Learn how to install Windows 10 on VMware


b. learning materials

    Windows 10 is a personal computer operating system developed by Microsoft as part of the Windows NT family of operating systems. Windows 10 was introduced on September 30, 2014, released on July 29, 2015 and in November 2015, Threshold 2 of Windows 10 was released to the public. In this report we will install Windows 10 in a virtual application, namely VMware Workstation Pro 17, the following are the specifications needed to install Windows 10 on VMware:

Windows 10 minimum specifications based on recommendations from Microsoft:

·      Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or above

·      RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) for 2-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit

·      Hard disk: 32 GB for 64-bit and 32-bit

·      Graphics card: DirectX 9 or above

·      Display resolution: 800 x 600.

c. Learning Preparation

In studying the discussion of the material on installing Windows 10 on VMware, several preparations are needed to understand the material. The preparations made to understand the learning are tools and materials. The tools and materials used in this material that will be used are as follows:

d. Installation VMware

Following are the steps to install VMware:

 1. First, to download Workstation Pro 17 we have to open a browser then search for VMware. Then click on Workstation Pro.

2. After the website opens, scroll down then click Download Trial.

3. Next, scroll down then click Download Now according to the operating system on the device used. Then wait for the download to complete.

4. Then open the downloaded file (download) and a display like this will appear. Next, click Yes to restart the device, the reason is because before installing VMware the device needs to complete the installation of Microsoft VC Redistributable.

5. After the device has finished restarting, try opening the downloaded file again and a display like this will appear. Then click Next.

6. Then click I accept the terms in the License Agreement and click Next.

7. Then click Install Windows Hypervisor Platform (WHP) automatically and click Next. The purpose is because VMware Workstation Pro 17 requires this based on the description above.

8. Then click Next again

9. This section is optional, so users are free to follow these two things.

10. Next, click Next again if there are no options you want to change.

11. Then click Install to start the VMware installation.

12. Then wait for the installation to complete.

13. After the installation is complete, click Finish.

14. Then open the installed VMware Workstation Pro 17, a display like this will appear. Enter the license key if the user has it and if you don't have it then you can use it for free for only 30 days. Then click Continue.

15. Next, a display like this will appear, which means the installation was successful.


e. Installation Windows 10 di VMware

Here are the steps for installing Windows 10 on VMware:

1. Open VMware, then make new virtual machine, after that select custom (advanced), and then select next. 

2. Then select the new hardware compatibility, and then select next

3. Select i will install the operating system later. so we can install Windows 10 later. And then select next

4. Then, in Guest Operating System select Microsoft Windows, after that the version select windows 10 x64, and than select next.

5. The next in section the virtual machine name to funcation changing the file name. if we want to change the location of the file to be saved, select Browse..., after already select Next

6. The next on section firmware type, select BIOS, and than select next.

7. In this section, how many processors are needed to run the virtual machine, because Windows 10 requires processor specifications: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or above, so we just select (2), then Next

8. Select the memory for this virtual machine, my recommendation is 4Gb, and than next

9.  The next select Use bridged networking. after that next

10.  Select the recommended one after that next

11. Select the type of virtual disk, select the recommended one, then select Next again

12. Then select Create a new virtual disk, then click Next

13. In the Specify Disk Capacity section, the size used to install Windows 10 is recommended only, then we select Store Virtual disk as a single file, then click Next.

14. Select Browse if you want to place the disk file, then select Next.

15The following are the results of creating a Virtual Machine. Then click Finish

16. Next, select CD/DVD (IDE) Auto detect to insert the Windows 10 ISO.

17. Then select Use ISO Image file, then select Browse and select the Windows 10 ISO file, then select OK.

18. After that, run the virtual machine, select Power on this virtual machine or you can also select play/start in the top menu.

19. Next, wait until the loading process is complete, after that, enter the cursor into the virtual machine by left clicking on the virtual machine

20. Then the Windows setup menu display will appear, in this example we just select default, then click Next.

21. After that, click Install now to start installing Windows 10

22. Next, in this section, we enter the Windows 10 license or product key, because we don't have a license or product key, we select I don't have a product key.

23. Next, select Windows 10 Pro x64, then click Next.

24. Then tick (centang) I accept the license terms, which means we agree to the license from Microsoft, if so, click Next.

25. Next, click Custom: Install Windows only (advance), because we want to install Windows 10 on the virtual machine, not upgrade it.

26. In this section we will partition the hard disk/drive to make it easier to organize files so 20GB for system and 40GB for data, then select Drive 0 Unallocated Space to be used as system, then click New, after that enter the size, namely 20480MB, if so click Apply.

27. After that there will be a display like this, then click OK.

28. Then the hard disk/drive will automatically be divided into two, then select Drive 0 Unallocated Space to use as data, then click New, after that just use the default size, if so, click Apply and Next.

29. Next, wait until the Windows installation is complete.

30. If so, wait for the loading process to complete.

31. Next, select the country where we live, for example Indonesia, then if so, click Yes.

32. Next, on the keyboard, select just default or US, if so, click Yes.

33. Click Skip if you don't want to add a second Keyboard Layout.

34. Next, click I don't have internet because we are not connected to the internet network.

35. Next, fill in the username, for example shodik & tiara, if so, click Next.

  36. Then enter the password to make it more secure, if so, click Next

37. Next, in the privacy settings section, just click Accept.

38. Then in this section, click Yes.

39. This section shows that the installation process was successful, then wait for the loading process to complete.

40. Then the Windows 10 installation process on VMware has been completed.

f. Result

41. And the partition that was created earlier can be seen in the file manager.
